Welcome to the "Bud" Skilling Cancer Fundraiser blog. "Bud" was diagnosed with lung cancer in August of 2010 and has recently started chemotherapy in hopes of putting the cancer into remission. Bud has been unable to work all summer and due to a past heart attack does not qualify for short term disability. Obviously the lack of income has placed a strain on Bud and Patti and the goal of this blog and the upcoming fund raiser is to help ease that burden so that the focus can go back to getting Bud better.

Home!

Once again I am sorry for not updating this site sooner...For those of you who were not aware, Bud was in the hospital all last week with pneumonia.  It seems that with cancer there is a lot of waiting to see what will happen next.  Chemotherapy being the necessary evil that it is brings side effects, like weakened immune systems and next thing you know, a little fever turns into pneumonia.  Luckily, they caught it early and were able to treat it aggressively with antibiotics.  So, Bud spent a boring week in the hospital waiting for the green light to go home, and today he is home with Patti.

For now, the chemo seems to be doing what it is supposed to, and we are all cautiously optimistic that all of these little battles will mean that we ultimately win the war.  Please continue to keep Bud and his family in your thoughts and prayers as we continue on this roller coaster of ups and downs and waiting to find out what is next.

The good news is that Bud is home and will hopefully be able to attend the benefit this weekend.  We continue to be overwhelmed by the support of the community.  Thank you for everything that you are doing to make the benefit a huge success.
