Welcome to the "Bud" Skilling Cancer Fundraiser blog. "Bud" was diagnosed with lung cancer in August of 2010 and has recently started chemotherapy in hopes of putting the cancer into remission. Bud has been unable to work all summer and due to a past heart attack does not qualify for short term disability. Obviously the lack of income has placed a strain on Bud and Patti and the goal of this blog and the upcoming fund raiser is to help ease that burden so that the focus can go back to getting Bud better.

A Good Week

Bud has endured is first round of chemo treatments.  There have been the expected side effects and some surprises along the way, but all in all he has faired well and managed NOTto lose any more weight.  This week has been his week off from chemotherapy and he is feeling much better.  September weather has finally hit Michigan and the cooler air makes it much easier to breathe, and get enjoy the outdoors.  Appetite (or lack there of) continues to be a struggle, but he made potato soup this week and even had a second helping.

At this point we are all cautiously optimistic (fingers crossed, prayers said) that the chemotherapy is doing it's job and he is winning the fight.  We won't know how successful the treatments have been until the Dr.'s do testing after the third round of chemo. Please continue to keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers as we ride the cancer roller coaster.  Round two of therapy starts on Friday.

As for the benefit...Things are officially set for October 16th from 2pm-6pm at the American Legion.  We are still looking for donations of silent auction items.  We would for everyone to come and show their support.  Remember if you cannot make it to the event you can donate here at the blog by clicking the donate button on the left of your screen, or mail donations as well.

We really appreciate all of  the love and support as we continue through the treatment process.  Please continue to follow the blog for updates.
